Blog Journal 10

Working on Assignment 5 taught me how to create interactive slides using PowerPoint, which included embedding hyperlinks, action buttons, and navigation tools for a user-friendly experience. I enjoyed the creative freedom to design interactive learning tools, but I found it challenging to ensure the flow between slides was logical and seamless. To improve, I’ll focus on planning the slide layout more thoroughly and testing the interactivity more rigorously before finalizing. This assignment showed me the potential of PowerPoint as more than just a presentation tool, which I found both enlightening and inspiring.

As a high school English teacher, I would use data collection tools like Qualtrics to gather feedback on students' understanding of literature and writing assignments. For example, I could design a survey to assess which parts of a novel students found most engaging or challenging and adjust my teaching accordingly. Additionally, these tools could help track students' preferences for project-based versus traditional assignments, allowing me to tailor my methods to meet diverse learning needs. Data collection tools provide valuable insights that can make my classroom more responsive and effective.

I want to learn how to create engaging video tutorials for online instruction using advanced video editing software. My SMART goal is to master the basics of Adobe Premiere Pro by completing at least five beginner-level tutorials and producing two five-minute instructional videos within two months. To achieve this, I will allocate three hours weekly for practice, focus on one tutorial per week, and seek feedback from peers to improve. By setting aside dedicated time and working steadily toward this goal, I’ll develop a skill that enhances my teaching toolkit or career versatility.
